“Iran will announce its position according to its foreign policy towards Palestine and against the Zionist regime’s atrocities in the Muslim world at the Extraordinary Islamic Summit in Jakarta,” Mohammad Javad Zarif told reporters upon his arrival in Jakarta on Sunday.
He said the summit being held on the 6th and 7th of March 2016 will focus on the issue of Al-Quds and Palestine in light of the persistent apartheid Israeli policies of oppression of the Palestinian people.
Zarif noted the negotiations with Indonesian officials will also focus on the cooperation with OIC and discussions over the ways to improve relations.
Underlining that the two countries have made good progress in bilateral relations, Zarif said he will take any opportunity to advance relations with Indonesia during his visit to the Asian country.
Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif is accompanied by a high-ranking political delegation on his visit to Jakarta and will also continue his Asia-Pacific tour to Singapore, Thailand, Brunei, Australia and New Zealand.
On the fourth leg of his tour, the Iranian minister will set off for Thailand to participate in the 14th Asia Cooperation Dialogue (ACD) Ministerial Meeting.
“Cooperation in political, economic fields, fighting against extremism and terrorism are among the most important topics of the dialogue with the officials of all 6 countries,” Zarif added.
